The plan could receive the approval of the Parliament and the Executive this Sunday.
The Israeli Security Cabinet announced the adoption next week of a bill that will extend conscription for men to three years, four months longer than currently established. After adoption, this standard would be in force for the next eight years.

Days ago, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant asked the head of government, Benjamin Netanyahu, to consider this possibility. He argued that means must be found to continue the aggression against Gaza amid the firmness of the Palestinian resistance and to confront the belligerence, in the north, of the Lebanese Islamic movement Hezbollah. He emphasized that after months of military operations, military troops are exhausted.
For its part, the Movement for a Quality Government in Israel, an organization that defends democracy, criticized the decision to extend compulsory military service. He stressed that there are 63,000 ultraorthodox Jews of military age without joining the Army, while it is mandatory for much of Israeli society
This Tuesday, Gallant approved the sending of recruitment orders to ultra-orthodox Jews, starting in August, after the Supreme Court ruling that forces the Army to integrate this segment of the population into its ranks.
However, the Israeli armed forces have already warned that only 3,000 could be recruited by 2024.
Members of this population group have special requirements in areas such as diet or living with women, so the Army would have to accommodate new recruits in special battalions.
